It is organized by one of the seven zonal IITs each year—namely IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee. Candidates who qualify through JEE-Main (except for foreign nationals who are exempt) can appear for JEE Advanced. This examination opens pathways for students to pursue undergraduate and integrated programs, including bachelor's and master's dual degree courses. Admission to premier engineering and architecture programs is granted to eligible candidates. The exam is conducted in an online, center-based format. JEE Advanced 2024 Eligibility Criteria
For JEE (Advanced) 2024, all candidates must concurrently satisfy all five of the following requirements.
Eligibility Criteria 1 - Performance of JEE (Main) 2024
Candidates must first qualify for JEE Main 2024 and position among the top 2,50,000 rank holders (across all categories) in order to be eligible. The percentages of the different candidate groups that will be shortlisted are as follows: 10% for GEN-EWS, 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, and the remaining 40.5% is open for everyone.
Eligibility Criteria 2 - Age Limit
The candidate's date of birth must have been on or after October 1, 1999. Candidates who are SC, ST, or PwD are given a five-year age reduction.
Eligibility Criteria 3 - Number of Attempts
A candidate will be able to attempt JEE Advanced twice in each of two succeeding years.
Eligibility Criteria 4 - Class XII (or equivalent) examination
Candidates must have taken Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as required subjects when they first took the Class XII (or equivalent) test in 2023 or 2024. Candidate appearances prior to 2023 are ineligible.
Eligibility Criteria 5 - Earlier IIT admission
Regardless of whether the applicant persisted in the program or accepted an IIT seat by reporting "online" or at a "reporting center" in the past, the applicant should NOT have been admitted to an IIT. Candidates who joined an IIT after having their admission to an IIT revoked (for whatever reason) are likewise unable to take the JEE (Advanced) 2024 exam.
